SEER

The seasonal energy efficiency ratio is used to rate the cooling efficiency of both air conditioners and heat pumps.  Simply put, SEER measures a heat pump’s ability to generate cool air by comparing the energy consumed to the amount of cooled air produced over a typical cooling season. Higher-efficiency heat-pump systems have SEER ratings of 14 to 18.
